CCC Members' Stories
“For almost 11 years here in Korea, I’ve experienced a lot of hardships. I suffered from loneliness, pain, and sometimes being discriminated in our workplace. Every day, I had to endure all of this for the sake of my family. But I want you to know that I didn’t get through all of these hardships on my own. It’s because of God’s grace that leads me through.
I am so blessed that God brought me to this church. God used this church to be able for me to understand his plan for me. His kindness and faithfulness brought me to my knees and repent. He made me realize that God didn’t punish me for turning away from Him. Because all the punishment that I deserved, Jesus took it all on the cross so that I could be forgiven. God’s plan was not to harm me but to save me.
God separated me physically from my family and friends in the Philippines, just to meet my other family here, the City Center Church. I just couldn’t imagine what my life would be if God didn’t lead me to this church. God didn’t just only change me, but He also restored to me the joy of His salvation. The happiness that I’ve been pursuing and finding in this world, I found it in knowing Christ. I really thank God for bringing me to a better place and people that I've wanted to belong to. You became my family here, and here is what I could call my home.”

“I’ve been a part of CCC since 2020. As a foreigner in Korea, especially outside of Seoul, finding church community can be a difficult process, but CCC is such a warm and wonderful community. The pastors work incredibly hard to ensure all feel welcome and at ease and there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved. The teaching is easy to follow, very solid and highly scriptural, plus the pastors and church staff take part in sermon discussion afterwards. I’ve felt like my questions and responses to the sermons were always listened to and that each member’s voice was valuable. As a foreigner it’s a great church to be a part of. I definitely recommend it to expat believers in the area, even if you have to make a bit of a trip. It’s been an honour to be a part of the CCC community and I hope they continue to grow and flourish!”

“I've been a part of City Center Church since late spring 2022. I've been going to church since I was a kid, and as I've moved around for school and work, I've experienced churches of all sizes. Even when I attended a large church with multiple language translators for the Sunday sermon or a multilingual worship department, I don't think I ever met many foreigners in our congregation. Even when I did see them in the hallway, it wasn't easy to say hello or connect with them because they were in different departments. Now that I'm part of CCC, I think it was strange. We were members of the same church, but we were strangers to each other.
However, at City Center Church, for the first time in my life, I have experienced weekly that we are all members of the same church with different nationalities. Friends who invited my husband and I, who were still new to the church, to outings and barbecues after the service, friends who shared the same interests so that we could keep in touch with each other during the week despite our limited English, and friends we knew from summer camp so that we could say hello to each other on the weekdays. The foreign members who helped me, a "newcomer," settle into the CCC family, where we were no longer strangers to each other (with the warmth and care of the Korean members, of course :)!
The fact that there is no division of service positions and departments, but that everyone is together and sharing the work in front of them; that we are happy to be each other's friends in faith even if we don't speak the language well; that we can share the word we heard each week and each other's lives through the ONE-THING sharing time after the service; and that we wait for enough time to be together in it. These are the things that have made me and my family feel at home at CCC, and I'm grateful to be a part of such a welcoming community:)”

“It has been a decade attending CCC, a multicultural church that has a big heart in welcoming foerigners like me. As a foreigner and a mom, I've always been looking for a community that offers belongingness to my family. Praise God for leading me into this church! A very warm, welcoming & loving family. It feels like home. Our Pastors are so approachable! Everyone feels genuinely loved & cared. And what I love in our church is that regardless of our differences in race, social status, and backgrounds, we're all united through the Gospel!”

“Although I came to City Center Church (CCC) for only one and half years, I feel that CCC is my second home. Here, everyone is not only called brothers and sisters, but also gets along as brothers and sisters. Because it is a multicultural church, as a foreigner, I no longer feel alone and lonely. My English is not very good, but everyone listens carefully when I share my thoughts and feelings, which gives me great confidence and my English has been improved a lot. The three pastors work very hard and are willing to take time to communicate with every member about their life or to organize fellowship activities such as hiking, biking or travelling. As long as you want, you can make an appointment with the pastors for a study session every week. I have participated in two activities, Disciple Training and Book Sharing, which not only improved my English reading ability, but also enhanced my faith in God, and I feel that I am getting closer to God.”

“...At first, I didn’t even want to attend church here in Korea, but now it’s hard to imagine my life without this church. God is truly amazing. If someone were to ask me why I stayed in Korea this long, this would be one of the top reasons. Here at CCC as a worship leader I have learned how to truly worship God in spirit and in truth. I recently heard from some of our parents that their children prayed for Woncheol and I. I was so touched. What a blessing it has been to be able to be a part of this community; to see children born and grow up to be prayerful; to share life together; and to grow in Christ together. ”
Joy Pagarigan from Canada
“This Church has helped me so much in my walk with God! I learnt a lot here and felt so comfortable and welcome. I was able to ask questions and understand more about the teachings of the Bible and the message of the Gospel. I hope anyone looking for a church finds this one, even if you are not sure about your faith or just curious it is worth visiting and meeting the wonderful people there. I was very new to Christianity when I started joining the Sunday service and now I so pleased that 2 years after joining I have been baptised. It's a great church family to be a part of I'm very grateful for everyone there.”
Ellie Turner from England
“The church at CCC has been a truly incredible blessing in my life! When I came to Korea l had a bit of a hard time adjusting to life here. I discovered this church on YouTube and listened to a few sermons and really liked what I heard. From there, I began attending this church. I immediately was accepted as a brother and have felt so valued and loved there. God is truly working in this community and I have experienced such amazing things here. The pastors are all so genuine and they go out of their way to spend quality time with everyone at the church. They also pray, and listen when you have concerns or hardships. It’s also a multicultural experience which is so awesome! The fact that we are all from such different backgrounds and cultures but we are all United through Christ! My favorite thing about the service is when we form the small groups afterwards and share our thoughts about the sermon and the word of God! So important to helping each other apply the word of God in our everyday life!”

“I believe it's very important to find a church community and finding one that is so close knit anyone would feel intimidated, but when I attended the first service not only did I find a Christ-centered church but a Christ-centered community as well. I was welcomed with open arms and for me that was one less worry as it is very hard for me to open and up and get close to people let alone make friends quickly, I have God to thank for that. I am so very thankful that my colleague and friend suggested this church as I was in desperate need for a community I can fellowship with. And coming here and finding everyone so dedicated to walking with God and learning about Him and getting close to Him, was quite refreshing I didn't think I would find one so easily as I had lived in China before and was suffocated by the fact that I couldn't find a physical church body to belong to and to take this journey with.
My most favorite part is after service where you have a choice to stay and share on what you learnt from the service and share your hardships and burdens and knowing that you are in a safe space where people will not only comfort you but help as well in prayer and however else they can. Our monthly potlucks are also awesome this is a time where we gather and enjoy a meal together after fellowship along with our Korean church members as well. I am so glad I came here and that God prepared this place for me I am grateful to the members and pastors here. I pray that God continues to bless them and increase them as they grow in the knowledge of Him who brought us together. Home away from home. Not only do they value and encourage a relationship with Christ but also a relationship with each other and our fellow neighbors be they christian or not.”
Lerato Danca from South Africa
When I think of CCC, I think of the word home. City Center Church created a welcoming and safe space for me and not just myself but for people from various backgrounds and all over the world to come and belong, worship, and serve God. It gave me the opportunity to meet and fellowship with God’s people every Sunday and even during weekly prayers/bible studies/book studies. When I came to Korea in 2015, I was in a place of trying to find a home church. I tried to seek community elsewhere and other churches but wasn’t sure if it was really a place where God wants me. As I continued my search, I went to CCC weekly and the more I did that, God opened my eyes to see that this was the place where He would also want me to serve. It is definitely the beauty of God revealing Himself through multiculturalism here at CCC. Since then, it has always been another home to me. I rejoice in the goodness of God knowing that I have brothers and sisters in Christ at CCC striving for the Gospel; the good news of Jesus Christ.
